I grew up in North Dakota and earned my Bachelor’s degree from NDSU. Following that, I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from UW-Milwaukee and have been working in schools since. I have lived throughout the midwest and landed in Green Bay in 2022.
My role includes removing barriers that students and families experience to ensure academic success. I enjoy building relationships and working collaboratively with school staff, students, families, and community members to create plans for growth and success. I’m excited to be working with some of the most resilient students and families that arrive at N.E.W. School of Innovation. Please reach out to me at the contact information below:

Carlos ZunigaA little about me: ¡Saludos! I am a Bilingual School Social Worker here at N.E.W. School of Innovation and love working with this team! It is a privilege being able to return to the school district I graduated from and give back to my community in my role.

I was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin and am a first generation graduate of immigrant parents. My studies took place at UWGB, where I earned my bachelor's degree by double majoring in Social Work and Spanish, along with a double minor in Human Development and Women & Gender Studies in 2020. I also completed my master’s degree at UWGB in Social Work, with an emphasis in both School and Clinical Social Work in 2021.

What I enjoy most about my role is having the opportunity to connect and build relationships with my students and families. I strive to continuously learn about others’ culture and values to best support and understand how to work with the diverse population that is served in our world today.

As a School Social Worker, I provide a bridge between the home, school, and community in providing direct/indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students’ academic and social success. Being a trained mental health professional, I am able to assist with mental health concerns and provide resources that are school and/or community based depending on an individual’s needs. I ensure my delivery of support is culturally responsive to meet the diverse needs of our school and empower opportunities for change when applicable.

I look forward to working with anyone in my capacity as one of the School Social Workers at N.E.W.! Below, I have provided my contact information if one would like to get in contact with me:

A little about me: I am the NEW School Counselor and am excited to start my first year here. I enjoy helping students reach their goals, whether they be personal, academic, or looking to the future. I want every child to have the ability to achieve their dreams.

I am originally from the Green Bay Metropolitan area. I earned my degree in Psychology and Human Development at UW-Green Bay. I then earned my Masters in School Counseling at Lakeland College. I moved to Western Wisconsin after college and worked as a middle/high school counselor for the past 16 years. I am moving back to the area to be closer to family and start my new journey here at NEW.

As a school counselor, I help students through social, academic, and career areas. I am more than happy to help all families navigate through school, academics, post-secondary information, and mental health resources. Please reach out if you would like my help.
