FIRST Tech Challenge: Team DECODE at N.E.W. School of Innovation
We’re excited to announce that N.E.W. is fielding a team for the 2025–2026 FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) season! This marks a thrilling opportunity for our students to dive into the world of robotics, engineering, and innovation through hands-on competition and collaboration.
This Year’s Challenge: DECODE™ Presented by RTX --The 2025–2026 FTC game, titled DECODE™, invites students to become modern-day explorers, uncovering the mysteries of the world’s artifacts. Teams will use robotics to interpret clues, unlock secrets, and bring hidden stories to life. The challenge emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork as students design, build, and program robots to complete complex tasks on a themed playing field. [firstinspires.org]
What Students Do:
As part of the FTC team, students will:
Design and build a competition-ready robot using real-world engineering tools.

Program the robot to perform autonomous and driver-controlled tasks.
Collaborate in teams to strategize, troubleshoot, and refine their designs.
Compete in regional meets and tournaments against other schools.
Document their engineering process and present their work to judges.
Why Join the FTC Team?
Participation in FTC offers students a wide range of benefits:
STEM Skill Development: Gain hands-on experience in coding, electronics, and mechanical design.
Teamwork & Leadership: Build communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
College & Career Readiness: Stand out on college applications and explore careers in engineering, technology, and innovation.
Scholarship Opportunities: Access to exclusive scholarships and networking through the FIRST community.
Fun & Friendship: Be part of a supportive team environment where learning is exciting and rewarding.
N.E.W Suns Esports
Esports is an interscholastic competition with video games. Teams from different high schools play matches against each other online. Students must be in good standing in order to participate.
