I am the NEW School Counselor and am excited to start my first year here. I enjoy helping students reach their goals, whether they be personal, academic, or looking to the future. I want every child to have the ability to achieve their dreams.
I am originally from the Green Bay Metropolitan area. I earned my degree in Psychology and Human Development at UW-Green Bay. I then earned my Masters in School Counseling at Lakeland College. I moved to Western Wisconsin after college and worked as a middle/high school counselor for the past 16 years. I am moving back to the area to be closer to family and start my new journey here at NEW. As a school counselor, I help students through social, academic, and career areas. I am more than happy to help all families navigate through school, academics, post-secondary information, and mental health resources. Please reach out if you would like my help.
Madelyn McDermott
Hello! I am a School Social Worker at N.E.W School of Innovation. I was born and raised in Green Bay and graduated from the Green Bay Area Public School District. It is exciting to return to this school district as a professional! I earned both my Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
My ultimate goal in this position is to dismantle barriers preventing students from succeeding through a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally humble perspective. I prioritize intentional relationship building and being a safe person that promotes inclusivity and belonging for students of all backgrounds, cultures, and identities. I support and empower students to develop plans to be successful academically and socially. I encourage students to work collaboratively with school staff and their families to achieve their goals.
I look forward to working with N.E.W students and families!
Kindly,
Maddie McDermott
